Indigenous Communities and Food Security

Dev Kumar Sunuwar interviews Dr. Phrang Roy, Khasi indigenous and biodiversity activist, from Shillong,  North-East India, on food security among Indigenous Peoples.

The UN has set the goal to achieve food security and reduce hunger by the year 2030. Towards this end, there is a need to pay attention to Indigenous Peoples, to recognize their indigenous food systems, food production, and  to give recognition to their indigenous knowledge system. But so far enough attention has not been paid to the role that indigenous peoples can play for world food security.
