As comunidades Indígenas não devem permitir os governos nem as empresas a continuar de destruir suas terras e violar seu direito a Consentimento Livre, Prévio e Informado. 

Os estados devem obter Consentimento Livre, Prévio, e Informado antes de aprovar qualquer projeto de desenvolvimento que afetaria as terras e os recursos dos Povos Indígenas.

Para los Pueblos Indígenas, el agua es un elemento sagrado y es parte fundamental de la espiritualidad; sin agua sería imposible la vida en la tierra, por esta razón, es fundamental resguardarla frente a amenazas de despojo como proyectos mineros, hidroeléctricos y otros. ¡Te invitamos a escuchar nuestro programa especial en el marco del Día Mundial del Agua!

Los sistemas alimentarios de los Pueblos Indígenas son una esperanza frente a las crisis alimentarias globales, pues estos sistemas promueven y conservan la diversidad, son respetuosos con la Madre Tierra, no agotan los recursos naturales, no usan agroquímicos, aseguran una alimentación más rica en nutrientes y una mejor salud. The Sámi have a long tradition of salmon fishing. Recently, a high court in Finland ruled in favor of salmon fishing as part of Sámi culture. Aslat Holmberg from the Sámi Council tells us about the significance of the ruling.

Recently, in the area where Sami people live which includes part of Sweden, construction of huge turbines has been underway. 
In this podcast, we speak to Maja Kristine Jåma, who tells us how these new sources of energy have been impacting her people.

The UAE has set forth three extra priorities for COP28, which include accelerating the energy transition to reduce emissions before 2030, revamping climate finance by fulfilling past commitments and establishing a new finance agreement, and prioritizing the well-being of nature, individuals, and livelihoods in climate action. 
Cultural Survival attended COP28 in Dubai, from 30 November to 12 December 2023, and spoke to some of the delegates who attended.
