Alto a la minería en el norte del Perú
En marzo del 2022, la activista Mirtha Villanueva y el campesino y líder comunitario Rosas Durán, quienes luchan contra las mineras en el norte del Perú, visitaron a integrantes del Parlamento Europeo para entregar un informe sobre el impacto de la minería en sus comunidades y buscar la forma de detener la destrucción de sus territorios. Se trata de comunidades campesinas que están enfrentado situaciones similares a las que vivimos los Pueblos Indígenas y cuyas experiencias pueden ser de utilidad para hacer frente a los megaproyectos que nos amenazan.
Los Pueblos Indígenas en aislamiento necesitan un territorio
En Perú, durante la llamada “época del caucho”, muchos Pueblos Indígenas huyeron hacia selvas y bosques para protegerse de la violencia, despojo y otras atrocidades; hasta la actualidad varios de estos pueblos continúan refugiados y se les conoce como Pueblos Indígenas en Situación de Aislamiento y Contacto Inicial (PIACI).
