COP28 -We Are Here To Defend Our Forests, Traditional Food Systems, And IP Rights!

The UAE’s presidential priorities include a significant language change from previous years, referring to “the inevitable and responsible phase-down of all fossil fuels.” 

Cultural Survival attended COP28 in Dubai, from 30 November to 12 December 2023, and spoke to some of the delegates who attended.

COP28 - Indigenous Peoples Must Combine Optimism With Strategy

Rodion Sulyandziga (Odege) from Russia believes that Indigenous Peoples should combine optimism with strategic action to advance their agendas despite facing challenges. To achieve this, he suggests mobilizing all available partners and resources and pushing for meaningful change collaboratively.

The Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) acts as an international legal framework to uphold nations’ commitments to biodiversity. Every two years, the governing body, referred to as the Conference of the Parties (COP), meets to assess progress in the implementation of the Convention, provide policy guidance, adopt programs, and review the achievement of the CBD's objectives. In this podcast, we speak to Mrinalini Rai (Rai) about gender and women's rights at the CBD.  Mrinalini Rai is Director of Women4Biodiversity.
