In order for this right to be applied fairly, it should respect the following: 1. From the start of a project, there should be a consultation with the Indigenous People of the area; 2. There should be sufficient time devoted to ensuring that the community receive all of the information about the projects and its impacts; 3. Information should be distributed in accordance with the traditional ways of each community; 4. Any form of trying to influence the opinions of the people should be avoided; 5. All the details of decisions taken should be recorded.

World Conference of Indigenous Women 2013

Andrea Landry, Anishinabek from the traditional territory of the Ashinaabe people, voices the importance of straying away from relying on the federal government to save indigenous communities and instead suggests working as a community toward changes within that community for more productive results. The TehatiwʌnákhwaɁ Language Nest Immersion Program With Dr. Yekuhsiyo (Rosa King)

Dr. Yekuhsiyo Rosa King (Oneida) is a member of the Turtle clan. Her ukwehuwe (Oneida) name means “she has a nice face”. She was born and raised on the reservation and has been learning the language for ten years and has been teaching for nine years. She is a licensed American Indian Language teacher by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). Dr. King is currently a lead instructor in the TehatiwʌnákhwaɁ Language Nest Immersion Program that serves students 3-7 years old. In this podcast, Dr. King tells us all about the Language Nest Immersion Program.

Como parte del proyecto “Pautas para pensar en mi lengua” dirigido a niños y niñas hablantes de lenguas Indígenas, Nenemi Paxia Sinergias Educativas A.C. presenta la cápsula: “La historia de Encino”, de la serie radio educativa “Aprendo de los frutos”.

El objetivo de esta serie es desarrollar habilidades de pensamiento crítico en los niños y niñas que la escuchen, así como generar aprendizajes pertinentes de acuerdo a su contexto y a su lengua a través de la observación de su entorno, el asombro de lo cotidiano y el rescate de conocimientos comunitarios.
