Dr. Dalee Sambo Dorough (Innuit, Alaska, USA) discusses her early engagement in the politics of Indigenous Peoples land rights, and shares her insight into why the defense of land merits extra international legal attention. She urges leaders to have optimism, and take “the long view” approach to making progress in the protection of Indigenous rights.

Stand Tall Like A Mountain_Indigenous Peoples' Day 2018
Indigenous peoples' day is about honoring indigenous resistance, and celebrating the contributions of indigenous peoples all over the world. In this newsletter we celebrate the activism of Antie Pua Case from Hawaii, and other activists around the world who fight to preserve our mountains, our rivers, our valleys, our Earth. The program ends with a song by Taino artist Brothery Mikey, who produced a song called "Like the Mauna", inspired by the Indigenous People of Hawaii's efforts to protect the sacred Mauna.

Rose hace trabajo social y comunitario con las mujeres en la prevención de la violencia y la promoción de una cultura de paz, ha demostrado su liderazgo y con ello logró ganar la alcaldía de su municipio, Waspam, en la rivera del Río Coco. Hoy Rose tiene clara sus líneas de trabajo y nos comparte la importancia de que las mujeres vayamos tomando los espacios que nos corresponden.
Feminismo Comunitario Territorial
La Red de Sanadoras Ancestrales del Feminismo Comunitario, Tzk’at en lengua maya quiché, nació en Guatemala en 2015. Estas mujeres mayas, que se autodenominan feministas comunitarias, participan en los procesos de recuperación emocional y espiritual de las mujeres indígenas que defienden territorios ancestrales frente las problemáticas de criminalización y judicialización y luchan por la vida en sus comunidades.
UNDRIP Article 22: Protection for Children, Elders, Women, and Individuals with Disabilities
Article 22 of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples states 1. Particular attention shall be paid to the rights and special needs of Indigenous elders, women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities in the implementation of this Declaration. 2. States shall take measures, in conjunction with Indigenous peoples, to ensure that indigenous women and children enjoy the full protection and guarantees against all forms of violence and discrimination.
