COP15 negotiations are underway in Montreal, and there will be many decisions made, each of these decisions made by member states will have a profound impact on Indigenous communities, and it's absolutely critical that these decisions center on a human rights-based approach and protect the rights of Indigenous Peoples; especially when it comes to area-based conservation, biodiversity conservation, fair and equitable benefit sharing from the use of genetic resources and the risk assessment of living modified organisms.

Indigenous Peoples have known how to live on and take care of the land since times immemorial. We know that wherever you find cultural diversity, you will be sure to find biological diversity, in fact globally there are overlaps of areas rich in biodiversity with areas of cultural and linguistic diversity. These are the areas managed by Indigenous Peoples.

The Sustainable Development Agenda is centered on people and the planet, underpinned by human rights, and supported by a global partnership determined to lift people out of poverty, hunger, and disease. It will, thus, be built on a foundation of global cooperation and solidarity.
Solidarity is required from States to fulfill what they agreed to in 2007, the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

La Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Diversidad Biológica (COP 15) se llevó a cabo en Montreal, Canadá, del 7 al 19 de diciembre de 2022. Durante este evento se reunieron delegaciones de 188 gobiernos, así como integrantes de distintas organizaciones, con el fin de abordar temas como la pérdida de biodiversidad, la restauración de los ecosistemas y la protección de los derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas. 

La Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre Diversidad Biológica (COP 15) se llevó a cabo en Montreal, Canadá, del 7 al 19 de diciembre de 2022. La pandemia por Covid-19 dejó muchas secuelas en nuestros pueblos y comunidades, y aunque el número de contagios ha disminuido significativamente durante el último año, aún se viven afectaciones en ámbitos como la salud física y espiritual, el cuidado del medio ambiente, la educación, la economía y el empleo.

La pandemia por Covid-19 ha generado nuevas problemáticas en nuestros pueblos y comunidades y ha profundizado algunas de las situaciones que ya se vivían en nuestros territorios, entre ellas, el consumo de alcohol, tabaco y drogas por parte de las y los jóvenes Indígenas.  

De acuerdo con cifras oficiales, en Colombia hay más de 21 mil personas que se autoidentifican como sisak, uno de los 115 Pueblos Indígenas y comunidades afrodescendientes que tienen sus territorios en dicho país. En 1980 los sisak iniciaron un proceso de descolonización y en la actualidad están caminando en la construcción de su autonomía en temas como educación, salud, justicia, entre otros. 

Como parte del proyecto “Pautas para pensar en mi lengua”, dirigido a niños y niñas hablantes de lenguas Indígenas, Nenemi Paxia Sinergias Educativas A.C. presenta la cápsula: “Los vecinos de la rama de abajo”, de la serie radio educativa “¿Qué nos dicen?”. El objetivo de esta serie es que a través de las aventuras de una ardilla, un árbol y un caracol, los niños y niñas se hagan preguntas, busquen respuestas y reconozcan que todos los seres vivos necesitamos comunicarnos y lo realizamos de distintas maneras.
