Respaldados por el Derecho Internacional, mostramos apoyo a la comunidad Maya Q´eqchi´ en Agua Caliente, Guatemala como precedente internacional para que se  reconozca a las Comunidades como titulares colectivas de tierras tradicionales. Un derecho que debe ser reconocido por Ley. 

Importancia De Radio E Intercambio En Guna Yala

En Enero 2016 miembros de radios comunitarias Indígenas de centroamérica se juntaron en Gunayala, Panamá para formar el Primer Encuentro Centroamericano de Radios Comunitarias.

Maximiliano Ferrer de la comarca de Guna Yala en Panamá habla de maneras de aprovechar la información compartida en el encuentro. Explica la importancia de la radio comunitaria para compartir la experiencia Indígena. En 1980 se les frenó la adquisición de una frecuencia, hoy negocian con el nuevo gobierno, que hasta ahora les ha ofrecido tres espacios radiofónicos en dos emisoras propiedad del estado.

Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual Colectiva de los Textiles y Traje Maya es una necesidad

En Guatemala, la práctica ancestral del tejido sigue con el  uso cotidiano del traje Maya y en la producción de los textiles de los Mayas contemporáneos.  Sin embargo, su mercantilización y apropiación cultural por compañías extranjeras, son una amenaza para la cultura, ya que hace uso y venta descontextualizados de los tejidos y no benefician económicamente a los creadores de éste arte.  La Asociación AFEDES actualmente inicia un proceso legal en donde el Estado Guatemalteco cree un marco legal para el reconocimiento de dicha propiedad intelectual de los Pueblos y se reconoz

Primer Encuentro de Radios Comunitarias Indígenas de Honduras

AMCH en Honduras nos comparte convocatoria al Primer Encuentro de Radios Comunitarias Indígenas de Honduras, en marco a la Misión de la Red Centroamericana de Radios Comunitarias Indígenas, un movimiento de radios comunitarias indígenas que desarrolla procesos de incidencia política, fortalece la identidad de los pueblos y saberes ancestrales a través de la capacitación, la democratización de la comunicación, la pluralidad de pensamiento, la equidad de género y la libre expresión.

 

Indigenous Women Changemakers: Joan Carling

This program is dedicated to Joan Carling, an activist from the Kankanaey people of the Philippines. She has served as an Expert Member on the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues during 2014 and 2016, and as the Secretary General of the Asia Indigenous Pact. In this interview, she explains the benefits of the participation of Indigenous Peoples in local and global decision-making, which would bring a diversity of perspective and solutions to pressing issues.

Indigenous Women Changemakers: Vicky Tauli-Corpuz

Vicky Tauli-Corpuz (Igorot Kankanaey, Philippines), a long-time activist and UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, shares her experience with successes of small, local groups reaching out to the international community to collaborate in better defending their rights. She explains how her experience as a nurse led to community engagement, which quickly turned into a passion for advocating for the needs of community members as an activist.

9 años de la Declaración de la ONU sobre el Derecho de los Pueblos Indígenas

Hoy 13 de septiembre conmemoramos un año más, de los nueve en total, de la Declaración de las Naciones Unidas sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas, la que fue adoptada en Nueva York durante la sesión 61 de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas. Esta declaración protege los derechos colectivos e individuales de los Pueblos Indígenas en relación con el autogobierno, la tierra, la educación, el empleo, la salud y otras areas, te invitamos a escuchar el siguiente spot.
