Migrant families from Central America and elsewhere have had to endure being separated. Foster homes and shelters has become the temporary home to many of the kids, some of them being toddlers. Bureaucratic errors could leave the government officials unaware that a child’s parent is in the U.S. What happens when the parents cannot speak English or Spanish?

Bartolina Sisa was killed in Bolivia in 1782. International Indigenous Women's Day is held each year on 5th September. Although women fight for their rights and the rights of their people, not enough recognition is given to the efforts of women.

The world will indeed be a poorer place without the languages and cultures of Indigenous Peoples.
So it is necessary to celebrate and promote Indigenous Languages, thereby improving the lives of the peoples who speak the languages.

Este 2019 ha sido declarado por la Asamblea General de la ONU como el Año Internacional de las Lenguas Indígenas. 

En este programa presentamos algunos puntos de reflexión del lingüista Dr. José Antonio Flores Farfán, lingüista, miembro del Centro de Investigación y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social en México, sobre la situación mundial de las lenguas originarias y las implicaciones positivas y negativas que puede tener la enunciación de este periodo como el Año Internacional de las Lenguas Indígenas. 

A nivel regional se están viviendo situaciones de alerta y también de avances positivos generados o protagonizados por los Pueblos Indígenas de Abyayala (continente americano).

En este noticiero le presentamos noticias sobre el tema de revitalización del idioma en Canadá, la crítica del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional al presidente de México, el rechazo de la defensoría ecuatoriana hacia los hechos de violencia contra la mujer, y los altos índices de violencia hacia líderes Indígenas en Brasil. ! Los idiomas, forman parte de la riqueza humana, nos ayudan a preservar parte de nuestra identidad y nos encaminan a la integración social, la educación y el desarrollo de los pueblos en su diversidad linguística y multicultural. Lamanetablemente, a causa de los procesos de globalización las lenguas Indígenas están en riesgo de extinguirse. Muchas lenguas han desaparecido completamente y con ellas mueren tradiciones, modalidades únicas de pensamiento y de expresión; recursos valiosos para nuestros pueblos.

The  18th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues ran from  22 of April until 3 May 2019.
The theme was Traditional knowledge: Generation, transmission and protection.
This program is about the the importance of Indigenous languages in the digital era.

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is the UN’s central body dedicated to all matters relating to the rights of the approximately 370 million Indigenous Peoples around the World.
In 2019, The 18th session of the Forum in New York will highlight the year that has been declared the International Year of Indigenous Languages.
Cultural Survival's Avexnim Cojti spoke to Richard Grounds from the Yuchi Nation, who tells us how this commemoration came about.

La ONU proclamó el 2019 como Año Internacional de Lenguas Indígenas y se celebrará a lo largo del mismo, realizando eventos en todo el mundo con el objetivo de velar por la protección de las lenguas indígenas. El objetivo es sensibilizar a la opinión pública sobre los riesgos a los que se enfrentan estas lenguas y su valor como vehículos de la cultura, los sistemas de conocimiento y los modos de vida. 

Indigenous communities should not let governments continue to destroy their territories and violate their right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent.
