Exmilitares Condenados en Guatemala Después de 37 años

En lo que es considerado un fallo histórico, un tribunal de Guatemala, condenó a penas de entre 33 y 58 años de cárcel a cuatro militares retirados por la desaparición forzada de Marco Antonio Molina Theissen, de 14 años, y el secuestro y violación de su hermana, Emma Guadalupe, hace 37 años, durante la guerra civil (1960-1996). Indigenous People Affected By Human Trafficking

Indigenous communities are particularly vulnerable to the crime of human trafficking due to the systematic denial of health and wellness resources to which they are subjected. In this program, we focus on the Navajo Nation's response to increased rates of trafficking linked to mining/oil development, and the legal response the Navajo government has implemented to alleviate the harm caused by trafficking, which disproportionately affects Indigenous women and girls.

West Papua: The Right To Inherent Sovereignty

West Papua is the western half of the island of New Guinea, formerly known as Dutch New Guinea. A 13-year dispute with the Netherlands over whether the former Dutch colony would become an independent state or an Indonesian province culminated in 1962 in its annexation by force by the Indonesian military and the denial of the right of self-determination to its people, who today identify as over 50% Indigenous West Papuan. Indigenous Refugees Struggling to Find Nationhood- A Story of Displacement from Myanmar (Burma)

Indigenous Peoples from around the world represent a disproportionate number of refugees and internally displaced persons due to a number of reasons, including conflict. They are one of the main targets of violence, displacing them from their ancestral land and territories. Vulnerability to displacement as an intersectional issue is often overlooked, a situation that has further increased the vulnerability of these populations. This radio program recounts the experience of Nwe Oo, an Indigenous Rakhine refugee who is currently taking shelter in California, United States.

Special Rapporteur Visit to Guatemala

Mujeres Indígenas Migrantes en el Marco del Día Internacional de Los Pueblos

El tema Migración y desplazamiento de los pueblos indígenas de este 2018 se centrará en la situación actual de los territorios indígenas, las principales causas de las migraciones, la circulación transfronteriza y los desplazamientos, con especial atención en el tema de los pueblos indígenas que viven en las zonas urbanas y fuera de sus países. Asimismo, se tratarán los desafíos y cómo revitalizar las identidades de los pueblos indígenas y alentar la protección de sus derechos dentro o fuera de sus territorios tradicionales.

Indigenous Migrants At The US Mexico Border

Migrant families from Central America and elsewhere have had to endure being separated. Foster homes and shelters has become the temporary home to many of the kids, some of them being toddlers. Bureaucratic errors could leave the government officials unaware that a child’s parent is in the U.S. What happens when the parents cannot speak English or Spanish?
