Durante siglos, los Pueblos Indígenas han ayudado a conservar los suelos, reducir la erosión, conservar el agua y reducir el riesgo de desastres en los territorios, según nos cuentan las y los integrantes de Radio Waira, emisora de los Pueblos Indígenas del Putumayo, Colombia, y agregan que para lograrlo ha sido fundamental el papel de las defensoras y defensores Indígenas.

El Coronavirus o COVID-19 sigue siendo una situación de gravedad , más ahora con nuevas variaciones del virus que se extiende por todo el mundo. En respuesta a esta emergencia y después de mucho tiempo de investigación, pareciera que la solución ha llegado; una vacuna sale al mercado y está llegando a muchos países, personas de la tercera edad, médicos, servidores públicos han sido los primeros en recibir la dosis.

El acceso limitado a los servicios básicos de salud sigue siendo un reto de gran escala para las comunidades Indígenas de todos los continentes y la emergencia sanitaria por covid-19 ha dejado más en evidencia esta precaria situación.

Los Pueblos Indígenas no esperan que los gobiernos encuentren soluciones, sino que están tomando el control para garantizar la salud dentro de su comunidad algo que también se hacía en el pasado.
