The Covid-19 Pandemic is upon us, and we all need to adhere to all the hygiene protocols.
While it is important to ensure the well-being of our elders in the time of this global pandemic, let us take care of our children too. If this is new for us, imagine the psychological impact it has on our young ones. Take the time to explain it to them, first hand, as opposed to what they see and hear on social media, television and radio.

La pandemia por Covid-19 se ha reducido drásticamente. Sin embargo, a nivel mundial nos seguimos enfrentando a distintas problemáticas derivadas de esta contingencia sanitaria. Actualmente, la generación de “nueva basura”, como cubrebocas, caretas y botellas de gel antibacterial está causando mucho daño al medio ambiente. De acuerdo con diferentes organizaciones, esta situación nos está llevando a un retroceso en cuanto a la acumulación de plásticos, producto de una cultura de usar y tirar, sumada a una tasa de reciclaje poco significativa o efectiva.

Reuniones

Para asegurar que se cumpla con el derecho al consentimiento libre previo e informado se pueden realizar sesiones comunitarias para estar enterados en todo lo que sucede o pueda suceder en el pueblo. Adjunto, se tiene que mantener la supervisión de los proyectos para asegurar que las cosas se realicen como se decidió dentro de las sesiones.

Huertos familiares y alimentación saludable, en Q'anjob'al

Guatemala ocupa el primer lugar de América Latina y el sexto del mundo en desnutrición infantil. En este país un 49.8% de los niños sufre desnutrición crónica. ¿Cómo se puede hacer frente a esta situación? Trabajo doméstico en tiempos de pandemia, en Q'anjob'al

Durante la pandemia de Covid-19, las mujeres han vivido un incremento de las tareas domésticas y de cuidados. De acuerdo con información del Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social (CONEVAL) de México, en 2018 las mujeres dedicaban 22 horas por semana a quehaceres domésticos y 28 horas al cuidado de otras personas, cifras que aumentaron todavía más durante la pandemia. 

Contaminación de los ríos, en Q'anjob'al

El agua es un bien común imprescindible para la vida, sin embargo, muchos pueblos y comunidades Indígenas carecen de acceso a agua limpia y potable. Durante la pandemia por Covid-19, este vital líquido ha resultado aún más importante en la preparación de alimentos y medicinas, el aseo personal y el lavado constante de las manos. No obstante, para millones de personas este servicio es irregular o nulo, afectando principalmente a las mujeres Indígenas, que son las responsables del cuidado de la familia.
