Los minerales de transición son llamados así porque se busca que poco a poco reemplacen el uso de combustibles fósiles, es decir, son minerales usados para la llamada “transición energética”, sin embargo, en muchos casos se están extrayendo de los territorios de los Pueblos Indígenas, violando derechos fundamentales de los mismos.
