Radio has been over for over a century and it is still relevant today, probably more than it has ever been. Let us look at some of the reasons why: Radios are portable, unlike television. Radios are cheaper as compared to television sets. Indigenous peoples use radio as a means of communication, especially in remote areas.

Language diversity, multilingual education, and the development of a deeper appreciation of linguistic and cultural traditions worldwide are all encouraged by the dissemination of mother tongues. The purpose of this program is to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance, and dialogue, and to remind us of the vital role that languages play in preserving and transmitting cultural heritage.
To commemorate International Mother Language Day we got in touch with correspondents from Progress Radio In Nigeria, who filled us in on the significance of mother tongue in that region.

Yolanda Bashestero del pueblo Yanesha de Perú, comparte sus objetivos y lo que aprendió en el Encuentro Continental de Mujeres Indígenas de las Americas. Hablan sobre las artesanías, y las costumbres naturales de sus abuelos al igual que los derechos de la mujer y como se siente motivada en ayudar a sus pueblo.

Las activistas y organizadoras del Encuentro Continental de Mujeres Indígenas de las Américas Tarcila Rivera Zea fundadora del Centro de Cultura en Perú, y Rosalina Tuyuc Presidenta de la Coordinación nacional de viudas de Guatemala, les dan la bienvenida a las participantes, y exhortan la importancia de estos encuentros para la lucha de mujeres Indígenas.

Cesibel Cisneros, joven líder de 22 años de edad, de Perú, nos habla de la Red de Organizaciones de Jóvenes Indígenas del Perú – REOJIP y de cómo los jóvenes trabajan para el rescate y valorización de la cultura y de ser la continuidad de los mayores para no perder la diversidad en el país.

El Coronavirus o Covid-19 a nivel mundial esta afectando la salud de los humanos. Los pueblos Indígenas ven la necesidad de estar informados sobre el tema en sus propios idiomas para proteger y prevenir el contagio de este virus.
