O Que Quer Dizer "Livre"

O direito a um consentimento livre, prévio e informado é um direito que pertence a todas as populações indígenas de confrontarem projetos de desenvolvimento nas nossas comunidades.
: A parte de ser livre quer dizer que o governo está proibido de usar qualquer tipo de manipulação de lideres e membros da comunidade quanto a suas decisões em relação a autorização de um projeto na nossa comunidade. Devemos exigir que o direito a um conhecimento livre, prévio e informado seja completamente livre.

01. What is Free, Prior, Informed Consent? (Nepali) पुर्व सुसूचित जानकारी सहितको स्वतन्त्र मन्जुरी भनेको के हो ?

पुर्व सुसूचित जानकारी सहितको स्वतन्त्र मन्जुरी अधिकार भनेको सरकारले आदिवासी जनजातिहरुको भुमि, भुक्षेत्र, प्राकृतिक स्रोत साधनमाथी कुनै किसिमको विकास कार्यक्रमहरु आयोजना गर्नु अगाडी आदिवासीहरुसँग बिना करकाप परामर्श गरिनुपर्छ र उनीहरुको आवाजलाई सुनिनुपर्दछ भन्ने मान्यता हो । The right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent means that governments have to inform Indigenous communities about any development projects they want to start in their territories, and listen to their opinions before beginning the project. UN Special Rapporteur Vicky Tauli-Corpuz on the Criminalization of Australian Aboriginal Peoples

Vicky Tauli-Corpuz, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, discusses with IRR Producer Shaldon Ferris the high rate of imprisonment of Australian Aboriginal individuals that she observed in her official visit to Australia. Disproportionate criminalization of Aboriginal people is evidence of systemic, structural inequality in Australia.

UN Special Rapporteur Vicky Tauli-Corpuz Finds Inadequate Consultation Process in Honduras

Vicky Tauli-Corpuz, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, says she has found an inadequate process of consultation with Indigenous communities on the part of the national government during her visit to Honduras, where she was recently invited for a working visit to comment on a draft of a law regulating Free, Prior and Informed Consent. Indigenous Hondurans do not feel that they were adequately consulted on the content of the law. Further, the law does not meet widely accepted international standards of F.P.I.C.
