“¿Por qué nos están matando? Como Pueblos Indígenas, afros y campesinos, ¿cómo vamos a resistir y a organizarnos para agrietar este plan de muerte?” Así comienza  este programa de radio en el que jóvenes, mujeres, autoridades tradicionales, guardias y analistas reflexionan sobre la lucha de los pueblos Indígenas del Cauca colombiano contra el narcotráfico y el crimen organizado. 

La pandemia de Covid-19 ha afectado de diferentes formas la vida en los pueblos y comunidades Indígenas. Se han vivido afectaciones en la salud, en la economía, en la alimentación, en la educación, entre otras áreas. ¿Cómo han hecho frente a esta contingencia sanitaria los Pueblos Indígenas? ¿A qué se han enfrentado? ¿Qué medidas han tomado para evitar contagios en sus territorios?

El gobierno está obligado a cumplir con el derecho al Consentimiento Libre, Previo e Informado que corresponde a los pueblos indígenas.

La pandemia de Covid-19 sigue causando estragos a nivel mundial, por lo cual es indispensable que los integrantes de pueblos y comunidades Indígenas continuemos cuidándonos, especialmente frente al desarrollo de nuevas variantes de esta enfermedad respiratoria. Una de las formas de cuidarnos es alimentándonos sanamente. ¿Sabes cómo hacerlo? 

El proceso de negociación entre el gobierno y los pueblos indígenas debe ser libre de amenazas, sobornos, o cualquier manipulación por parte del gobierno en las decisiones de los pobladores.

In this interview, John Cloete from Radio West Coast  interviews Naomi Cloete, a small-scale fisher from Paternoster, and they talk about the reality of the poverty that fishermen live in, they talk also about how generation after generation of fisher-boys become fishermen because there simply is no other life for them on these shores. Naomi also tells us how fisher folk has to suffer, partly because of policy but more worryingly by the national silence that shrouds the Indigenous Peoples of the Western cape coastlines.

In this podcast, we speak to Craige Beckett from Indigenous Youth Xchange who tells us about a new project that aims to teach the youth alternative skills to grow their own food.

El derecho al consentimiento libre, previo e informado se encuentra estipulado en leyes nacionales e internacionales y se puede aplicar en la defensa de las tierras cuando se pretende realizar un proyecto que cause daños irreparables.

Es importante exigir el cumplimiento de esta ley porque proteger el ambiente, garantizar agua y aire limpio, y es un mecanismo para controlar los proyectos de desarrollo, para asegurar que realmente beneficien a los pobladores de la comunidad.

En Costa Rica hay ocho naciones Indígenas que habitan 24 regiones territoriales. En las últimas décadas, la lucha de estos pueblos por la recuperación de sus territorios se ha intensificado, especialmente a partir de los procesos de recuperación del territorio iniciados hace más de 12 años por el pueblo bribri de Salitre, cuyo líder, Sergio Rojas, fue asesinado en marzo del 2019. 

En Costa Rica hay ocho naciones Indígenas que habitan 24 regiones territoriales. En las últimas décadas, la lucha de estos pueblos por la recuperación de sus territorios se ha intensificado, especialmente a partir de los procesos de recuperación del territorio iniciados hace más de 12 años por el pueblo bribri de Salitre, cuyo líder, Sergio Rojas, fue asesinado en marzo del 2019.

En el Estor, Izabal, Guatemala, desde 1960 se instalaron proyectos mineros en los territorios del Pueblo Maya Q’eqchi’, sin su consentimiento y afectando a varias comunidades aledañas, que se han organizado para demandar al Estado el respeto de sus derechos y el cierre de la Compañía de Niquel CGN, más conocida como Minera Fénix.
