¿Ha escuchado sobre los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible? Cultural Survival pone a su disposición este programa en idioma Bribri específicamente sobre el objetivo de número 1 enfocado a ponerle fin a la pobreza para el año 2030, considerando la suma importancia de que los pueblos Indígenas se mantengan informados en sus propios idiomas para poder involucrarse en alcanzar esta meta para el año 2030.

Los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible establecidos por Naciones Unidas están estrechamente vinculado con los pueblos Indígenas y la forma de cómo pueden estar involucrados. Poder estar informados en sus propios idiomas es fundamental por lo que Cultural Survival presenta este programa en idioma Bribrí hablada por más de 6,000 personas de la comunidad Bribri en la región costarricense de Talamanca y en las montañas de la provincia de Bocas del Toro en Panamá.

The right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent means that governments have to inform indigenous communities about any development projects they want to start in their territories, and listen to their opinions before beginning the project.

The right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent belongs to all Indigenous Peoples.

El Día Mundial del Agua se celebra cada 22 de marzo para recordar la relevancia de este líquido vital. Esta conmemoración tiene por objetivo crear mayor conciencia acerca de la crisis mundial del agua y la necesidad de buscar medidas para abordarla de manera de alcanzar el Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible No 6: Agua y saneamiento para todos antes de 2030. 

For months now, since the military coup on February 1, 2021, people from all walks of life in Myanmar have been continuously taking to the streets in protest. Everyday thousands of people have been detained, including high profile leaders and politicians of the civilian government. Many are kept under house arrest with no outside contact and in most cases their whereabouts are still unknown. Large demonstrations against the coup are occurring daily in Myanmar, defying the curfews and restrictions put in place by the military.

Indigenous communities should not let governments continue to destroy their territories and violate their right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent.

The negotiation process between the government and Indigenous Peoples should be free of threats, bribes or any manipulation by the government of the decisions of Indigenous Peoples.

It is important that indigenous communities elect leaders who will fight for the interests of their people and not the interests of the government.

Article 10 of the UN Declaration on the rights of Indigenous Peoples states that no one can forcibly displace indigenous communities from their territories.

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is a high-level advisory body to the Economic and Social Council. The Forum was established on 28 July 2000 by with the mandate to deal with indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, the environment, education, health, and human rights.
Andrea Carmen (Yaqui) from the International Indian Treaty Council was there in the beginning, and in this radio program, she tells us all about the history of the forum, the present state of the forum, and the forum of tomorrow.

¿Qué sabe sobre los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible conocidos como ODS? en este programa le compartimos información sobre el objetivo 6 enfocado a garantizar que todas las personas en el mundo puedan tener acceso a servicios sanitarios adecuados y agua limpia, pues actualmente las Naciones Unidas señala que en todo el mundo, una de cada tres personas no tiene acceso a agua potable salubre, dos de cada cinco personas no disponen de una instalación básica destinada a lavarse las manos con agua y jabón y no cuentan con servicios sanitarios adecuados.

The UN Declaration on the rights of Indigenous Peoples along with other international instruments, recognises the right to Free, Prior and Informed Consent as a right of Indigenous Peoples.
