COVID-19 sigue siendo una situación de gravedad, más ahora con nuevas variantes del virus que se extiende por todo el mundo. La segunda ola del virus está afectando a muchos países mientras que la primera ola ahora llega a aquellas naciones donde no se había sentido mucho el impacto del virus.
Las radios comunitarias en Guatemala se caracterizan por estar al servicio de la comunidad y promover principalmente sus derechos como Pueblos, su cultura, identidad e idioma Q'eqchi'.
Recientemente radio Xyaab Tzuultaq'a ubicada en El Estor, Izabal cumplió 4 años de estar al aire; años que no han sido fácil debido a la persecución y criminalización hacia los medios comunitarios en Guatemala y muchos otros países.
El coronavirus ha venido afectar a todo el mundo, actualmente existen más de 127 millones de casos en el mundo y ha ocasionado más de 2 millones de casos en el mundo según datos de la revista virtual RTVE.

Las comunidades Indígenas son las que se han visto más afectadas, pero son ellas mismas quienes también han tomado acciones de prevención y cuidados. Por ejemplo, son las comunidades quienes se han organizado para llevar información sobre este virus, así como también proporcionar medicina en base a sus plantas y conocimiento tradicional.
Los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible establecidos por Naciones Unidas están estrechamente vinculados con los aportes Pueblos Indígenas y ahora que sufrimos la amenaza de la actual crisis sanitaria.
