En enero 2016, representantes de radios comunitarias Indígenas de Centroamérica se reunieron en Gunayala, Panamá para ser partes del Primer Encuentro Centroamericano de Radios Comunitarias Indígenas. Aquí les presentamos el Comunicado de Prensa, en voz de Elsa Chiquito Rucal, directora de una radio comunitaria indígena en Guatemala y miembro del consejo Regional de la Red Centroamericana de Radios Comunitarias Indígenas, la cual resultado de este primer encuentro.

Mujeres En Medios De Comunicacion

En Enero 2016 miembros de radios comunitarias Indígenas de Centroamérica se juntaron en Guna-Yala, Panamá para formar el Primer Encuentro Centroamericano de Radios Comunitarias.

Carlos Morales de Costa Rica habla de la necesidad de involucrar a las mujeres en la radio comunitaria, destacando que las mujeres tienen derecho a ocupar espacios dentro de las radios.
Nota que es la responsabilidad de los hombres instar que las compañeras tengan su lugar, para que sea realidad.

Metas De Una Mujer Guna En Medios De Comunicacion

En Enero 2016 miembros de radios comunitarias Indígenas de centroamérica se juntaron en Gunayala, Panamá para formar el Primer Encuentro Centroamericano de Radios Comunitarias.

Lauriz Díaz, miembro del Consejo Regional de Radios Comunitarias y representante del gobierno Guna. Ella explica varias estrategias para cumplir la expansión de participación de la mujer en las radios comunitarias la primera la autodeterminación de la mujer “tu tienes que tener tu autoridad de mujer”, esa es la estrategia destaca Díaz. Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual Colectiva de los Textiles y Traje Maya es una necesidad

En Guatemala, la práctica ancestral del tejido sigue con el  uso cotidiano del traje Maya y en la producción de los textiles de los Mayas contemporáneos.  Sin embargo, su mercantilización y apropiación cultural por compañías extranjeras, son una amenaza para la cultura, ya que hace uso y venta descontextualizados de los tejidos y no benefician económicamente a los creadores de éste arte.  La Asociación AFEDES actualmente inicia un proceso legal en donde el Estado Guatemalteco cree un marco legal para el reconocimiento de dicha propiedad intelectual de los Pueblos y se reconoz

Mujeres indígenas de Panamá fortalecen sus capacidades en seguridad alimentaria para el desarrollo local

Cerca de 26 mujeres originarias de las diferentes regiones indígenas del país fortalecen sus conocimientos sobre seguridad alimentaria y nutricional para el desarrollo local y sus capacidades de liderazgo para el uso deinstrumentos internacionales y nacionales de derechos humanos, derechos de pueblos y mujeres indígenas.

Indigenous Women Changemakers: Dawn Lavell-Harvard

Dr. Dawn Lavell-Harvard (Anishinaabe, Canada) explains how the concerns that have been labeled as “women’s issues” are in fact central to the progress of Indigenous rights. Often, concerns such as domestic abuse, schooling, and healthcare are often sidelined in favor of focusing on issues that are seen as more universal. Dr. Lavell-Harvard places them at the center of her activism efforts, showing that there is no need to compromise or postpone the rights of Indigenous women in Indigenous movements globally.

Representantes Indígenas de C.A fortalecen sus capacidades sobre la gobernanza responsable de la tierra, pesca y bosques.

El programa ha constado de dos talleres de capacitación y un periodo de formación virtual de cuatro meses en el que los participantes han desarrollado investigaciones dirigidas para identificar los principales problemas y necesidades relacionadas con la tenencia de recursos en sus comunidades, cuyos resultados se presentarán en este encuentro.

Conozcamos sobre Seguridad y Soberanía Alimentaria y lo que están haciendo las mujeres Indígenas para fortalecer este aspecto tan importante en la vida apoyadas por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación (FAO) y el Centro para la Autonomía y Desarrollo de los Pueblos Indígenas (CADPI) que intentan incentivar la participación de las mujeres y comunidades indígenas en la toma de decisiones y formulación de Políticas Públicas que incidan en su Seguridad Alimentaria.

Ending Violence Against Women: Remembering Sarah Baartman

November 25th is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Cultural Survival remembers Sarah Baartman, a Khoikhoi woman who, under Dutch colonization of her homeland, was taken captive and coerced to participate in public shows and medical examinations which relied on a falsified science of racial difference. We honor her life as a testament to the urgent necessity of having an international day when the world renews its commitment to end violence against women, especially Indigenous women and women of color.
